Why 'birds' didn't die out with the dinosaurs: Feathered ancestors pecked on seeds to survive the mass extinction

During the Great Flood the birds survived because they could fly above the water. They fed on fish primarily.Tuna SandwichReply toDrJamesRustles
I see, creameggy. So one pair of apes would have been enough to re-populate the Earth and produce the various types of hominids. So Noah, as the last antediluvian, was some sort of ancestral "kind" to all the other apes, including modern humans. "Australopithecus noahensis" has quite a ring to it, don't you think?GalahadReply toDrJamesRustles
creameggy, Bournemouth, United Kingdom: When you look at the myriads of animals, birds and bugs in the Americas, you naturally wonder how Noah got them to the Middle East. American bison, for instance, and grizzly bears and rattlesnakes and Bald eagles. Did he send a fleet of ships manned by a few thousand of his family to go collect them, driving them like cattle? Or did they just fly and hop to the Middle East, ignoring the Atlantic Ocean? From all over two continents that cover more than 16 million square miles, they were all moved by men to the Middle East. During the Late Stone Age or the Early Bronze Age. Then they and all the others were loaded on a ship more than twice the size of HMS Victory, in only 7 days. Then they were somehow returned to their natural habitats. As Mr. Spock would say, "That doesn't compute.".Tyler Durden
Bones when buried can start looking very old very quickly. God created the earth and all the animals, plants and man precisely 6,147 years ago.Harry
Where do these scientists get their wild ideas from? Before the demise of the Dinosaurs there were Butterflies, Moths, and Dragonflies present on earth of Genera that are still extant. Butterflies and Moths feed in their larval form almost exclusively on vegetation they can't exist without it. Dragonflies in their adult state feed on other insects which are also frequently dependant on vegetation. To say that the early birds survived because they ate seeds is a fallacy. They also had a great range of insect life to feed on. Personally I don't think the Meteor impact theory really stands up to scrutiny, for the extinction of the Dinosaurs, far too many life forms survived that were reliant on plantsalbanianguy36
I am not very religious that what our old president did to us but what dhould i beleve the scientist who is in midd 40s or bible which is thousand of years old .and if scientist are right they still havent explained how did we and animals come in this world .PaulCReply toalbanianguy36
Just because the Bible is old that does not make it correct. In fact if you take the time to read it you'll find it riddled with errors, misinformation and self-contradiction. It was written by people with no understanding of the universe or the world around them so they simply made things up.nigelwillReply toalbanianguy36
Genesis is always good for a laugh. How can you have days passing when the sun isn't created till the 4th day? The firmament is a solid roof over the world, stars are set into the firmament, and the moon is a light source....There's a couple to get you started from page 1.smart_Irishman
God destroyed the dinosaurs with the flood and all the animal that survived managed to get on Noah's arc don't believe this BS the Dailymail is peddlingCroccyLc
Or maybe some of them evolved into birds and cavemen hunted the rest to extinction, I'm sick of these scientists and their so called theoriesTuna SandwichReply toCroccyLc
What thick n indoctrinated fails to realise is the "were you there" argument is far more applicable to claims for which there is no evidence whatsoever, such as the miraculous claims of holy books on which the religions based on them hang. Believe in magic fruit, talking snakes, resurrection men and angels? Were you there?roderik77
Couldn't the meat eating birds have survived feasting on those millions of carcasses left over from the asteroid strike?roderik77Reply toroderik77
First Llama, there are many creatures whose digestive systems allow them to feast on rotting carcasses. Some scavengers actually seek them out. If a carcass is covered in ash and dehydrated then such meat could last for months, if not years, thus allowing enough creatures to survive and start breeding again. After all, how did our mammalian ancestors survive that period?roderik77Reply toroderik77
PaulC: Then how do you explain the very many bodies of dead creatures that lasted long enough to become fossilized, as well as their bones? The "meat" must have been dehydrated in an oxygen-free environment to last long enough for fossilization. Many fossilized dino eggs found in places like the Gobi Desert. Meat eaters can also survive by eating the seed eaters.albanianguy36

Dinosaurs didn't actually last very long. They appeared soon after some volcanoes went off in Russia and then they disappeared when a comet banged into Mexico.
