A breathtaking video shot recently shows Frederik galloping freely, with his long black mane billowing in the wind.

By comparison, Frankel, one of the world's greatest ever racehorses, has a service fee of more than AUD$250,000.

Actually, it is natural. They start braiding their manes when they are very young, and re-braid them regularly to prevent them from breaking off. When protected that way, they will grow very long. Sometimes they DO use mane and tail extensions on horses who are performing in a show, especially with a young horse that hasn't had time to grow a long mane and tail. That is why the mane and tail are wavy...it is from the braiding.[CN]
