Even without the Chinese tourists or any other nationals to visit Thailand, the White Temple and other places in Thailand would have gotten dirties anyway, from toilet to temple itself. The mother nature would have made those places dirties.

After all, Thai businessmen just can't take money from the visiting tourists without doing any kind of works. There are no such free lunches in the world PERIOD.

Spitting in public is a Chinese thing. Go to China Town or any Chinese neighborhood & you'll see them coughing & spitting in public.

Not to mention smoking in the middle of a restaurant and throwing the butts on the floor, Picking their noses and eating it, or worse doing a "farmer blow" on the floor of the restaurant, sadly this all happened before even my first dish was delivered to me.

Here in California they flood the Coach Outlet Centers to buy expensive Coach purses and handbags at discount prices. They come in large tour buses, run into the store, and while in the store they'll spit on the floor, push and shove their way around, and constantly cut in the long line. My wife almost punched one in the face because the lady pushed our young child off a chair so she could sit in the chair to try on a shoe! As unbelievable as it sounds, Chinese tourists really are that bad. Seriously, we can NOT let them get away with it, and they're not going to self-govern their actions. Chinese make such a big deal with people acting a certain way when you travel to China, but make absolutely no concessions when travelling abroad.

At the huge outlet mall on I-10 near Morongo, California the shops have learned how to deal with the Mainland Chinese shoppers, most have hired or use their Security Personnel to line them up between ropes by the door, allowing only 5-6 in the store at a time. That way they can control them and keep them from "trashing" the store while making their purchases! Virtually ALL pay with nice NEW crisp $100.00 USD bills, which forces most of the stores to keep sufficient smaller bills on hand for change. In addition, due to the large amount of CASH held in the stores, many have armored car pickups multiple times per day so not to provide a "bonanza" for criminals! Strange how they pay HIGH prices for "designer" junk MADE IN CHINA!

My wife has a good friend who works with a firm that does a lot of business with the Chinese. The company told the Chinese they would have to stop doing business with them if they could not behave themselves in the office. Spitting on the floor, wiping boogers all over the place, and trashing the restrooms are out of hand in it takes a lot of manpower to clean up the office after the Chinese come in.

If someone pushed our young daughter off a chair, that person would have been pushed back or punched in the face by my wife. This is the only way they are going to learn to stop their bad behavior. The Chinese tour guides need to talk to them about proper behavior and the locations they go to need to tell them if they can't behave, they will have to leave.

your daughter should be taught to respect adults. not saying she should have been pushed but she should have gotten off

The world economy would have crashed had the Chinese not been there if they do buy so much.

There are 607 MILLION PEOPLE in NAZIchina who DO NOT HAVE TOILETS !!!

READ THIS NEWS from UNICEF and WHO :

" Spot news stories on booming economies and think pieces on population growth—that’s what a quick Web search for “China” or “India” will get you. But according to data compiled by the World Health Organization/UNICEF’s Joint Monitoring Programme for Water Supply and Sanitation, the two nations should probably be known for something else as well: Of the handful of countries whose residents have the least access to toilets, India and China rank first and second.

An eyepopping 818 million people in India and 607 MILLION PEOPLE in CHINA don’t have the kind of sanitation facilities (a toilet connected to a septic tank or sewer system) that most Americans take for granted. People from these two countries constitute about half of the 2.5 billion citizens around the world who practice open defecation—yes, that means going No. 2 in fields or on the street. "

YUCK GREEDY NAZIchina !!!!

I seen a Chinese lady onetime at a park take a dump right in the creek, I hate when people do that you are not supposed to go to the bathroom in the water you go on land away from the water so it dissipates before it reaches the ground water. The Chinese also need a little more respect for wild life you cannot over fish and eat every living creature but there is people from every race who do that like if you go fishing catch a few what you could eat and let the rest go you do not need a 100 gallon cooler full of fish.

It's so cute to see this kind of hypocrisy coming from Americans.

@yayagal You are the reason for the sign outside Shanghai park, "No dogs or Chinese allowed inside."

Hope you think that was a "cute" sign. You must be so proud to be dirty and rude. Your misguided pride is the core of it all. Have that much pride? Don't speak English and stay away from America.

I am an 83 year old American and have traveled much of the world, particularly Asia, and still do. Having said that, I have to agree with Pete, grammar aside. Many Americans seem to feel they can leave their inhibitions and morals behind when they leave this country. Just cross the border into Tijuana, Mexico on a Saturday night and visit some of the places on the Avenida Revolution, for example.

I lived in Taiwan for a couple of years and can attest to the fact the Chinese behavior can be a bit trying. Look into their history and you might understand why.

I have no problem, when around rude obvious mainland Chinese folks, to make sure that my elbows are used as well as my size and body weight, to pay them back for their rudeness. I have had Chinese people sit in my assigned airline seat, cut in font of me in line, and even pushed my wife nearly to the ground while shopping. I have knocked a few out of my way, and then feigned innocence, smiling and mumbling "phque you very much" or "eat sheet and die" all the while smiling and acting courteous.

Almost had to get airline security to move a woman out of my seat one time. Thankfully the flight attendant made her move to her seat in the back of the plane, kept getting up and refused to turn off her cell for take-off so they had to take it away from her. She talked loud and complained the whole time. Then the girl behind me kept jumping on the back of my seat. I had my seat leaned back a little bit and when tried to jump on it that time I let my seat up and she went face first into it. A flight attendant saw the whole thing. She stopped jumping and could not wake up her parents so the flight attendant came by and buckled her in her seat and told her stay there and be quiet.

When I was in Korea and rode their ferries, I noticed how orderly everyone got on and off the boat.when I was in Hong Kong and bought a ticket to ride the ferry, and saw how them Chinese stampeded each other off that ferry, stampeded I tell you, I just walked the hell away.

What is it with Chinese tourists and bathrooms? I know that they drop a lot of money into the economy but do they have to drop a lot of dollops on the bathroom floor?

To be fair, in recent years the PRC government launched a campaign to improve the reputation of Chinese tourists abroad--a spinoff of similar efforts in Beijing leading up to the 2008 Olympic Games.

Lest not forget the meme of the 1950s of the "Ugly American". Yes, folks, Americans were considered (gasp!) rude by the Europeans when Americans started to travel abroad post WW2. Most Americans still don't know what a bidet is for or how to use one properly. Euros have long ago given up hope that Americans will figure it out.

And then in the '70s the Japanese started traveling to the USA. Problem was, Japanese bathrooms have drains in the floors and Japanese get wet and soap up on the floor prior to entering the bathtub. Quite a few hotel rooms damaged back then. And, yes, local authorities had to print up pamphlets in Japanese explaining how things were done in the US.

In the '90s, Taiwanese began taking tours to Singapore and Hong Kong. Stories emerged of rude Taiwanese leaving their hotel room doors open and shouting to each other in adjoining rooms about the events of their day.

The Chinese have that rudeness born of cluelessness combined with a sense of cultural superiority. The key to dealing with this is to NOT stoop to their level. Take the high road and pick your battles (do you REALLY have to be first to the Cheerios in the morning?). Acting properly should set the example for others to follow.

...or not, and you can trip someone on the stairs.

Do you know anything about "The Ugly American?" The Ugly American is a 1958 political novel by Eugene Burdick and William Lederer. The book depicts the failures of the U.S. diplomatic corps, whose insensitivity to local language and customs was in marked contrast to the polished abilities of East bloc (primarily Soviet) diplomacy and led to Communist diplomatic success overseas.

The "Ugly American" of the book title refers to the plain-looking engineer Atkins, who lives with the local people, who comes to understand their needs, and who offers genuinely useful assistance with small-scale projects, such as the development of a simple bicycle-powered water pump. The book implies that the Communists were successful because they practiced tactics similar to those of Atkins.
