Knowing the reputation of the British, the Egyptians can say goodbye to this lot

So where are the glorious treasures of Tutankhamen's tomb reside? They were discovered by British archaeologist Sir Howard Carter . . .and they remain in the Cairo museum to this day. FAIL!

That's good coming from whose someone whose country's army of occupation used the Acropolis in Athens as target practice for their artillery ... then saved by the British though.

And the reputation of the Turks? At the time the Elgin Marbles were removed, the Acropolis was being used as a gunpowder store by the Turks. The reputation of Turkey today is also somewhat questionable!

As an American woman living in London I have to say I will certainly be going to see this exhibition. The British Museum is almost like a second home for me, and I love seeing its treasures. I have always been fascinated by the history and art of ancient Egypt. As a child I really wanted to see the pyramids and the valley of the kings, something I managed when i was 18 - they were as breathtaking as I had always dreamed. At my last office Party I even went dressed as Cleopatra, yes I know she is from the Greek Ptolemy era but there's no denying she was a true queen of Egypt. Anyway, as you can imagine, i really turned some heads in my costume. These ancient Egyptian robes and crowns really showed off my trim little figure. My Boss even called me his Queen of the Nile. It was a fun night.

nope considering the Egyptian who reside in the country today are not the same Egyptians who occupied the country during antiquity. Much like the Americans today are much different than the Americans were 1000 years ago.

Talking about talent--remember the family from Bolton that made replicas and conned the 'experts' out of £thousands---modern day talent--just as good as the ancients.

I suppose you red arrowers would prefer to see an unmade bed as an art exhibition and consider that real talent!!.

Of course modern artists can replicate ancient art. The mystery and magnificence of ancient art is that it has lasted, was done without modern tools and supplies, and that it tells stories about history.

Why is it the nose always seems to get broken off on "some" of the statues.
