When I started birding 30 years ago, we looked for the first migrants in early March. We now look from late February.

If goose down is so warm why do they fly off find warmer weather when it gets cold?? ;)

Remember the world temperatures had not increased for 10 years. The best 'they' came up with...global warming has paused.

Remember... It's the early bird that gets the worm.. BUT, it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.. just sayin'...

But according to the satellite record, there has been no gIobal warming for 19 years. How do steady temperatures change anything?

Global warming = excuse for just about anything.

The cause of declining bird population is surely related to their food supply? Motorists pre 1960 were used to having windscreens covered in squashed insects on any countryside journey but then came rampant use of insecticides, hence today there are far fewer insects, cleaner windscreens but also leaner birds! Or can our global warming experts twist the dearth of insects onto climate too?

Lack of food is obviously critical but is linked in with climatic factors. For example, birds try to time brood hatching with the flush of invertebrates which occurs when trees come into leaf in spring. However, this coordination is breaking down and fewer chicks are fledging.

A lack of insects is not due to warming. Ever been to a hot country? Insects love hot countries, even really hot regions like outback Oz - because they are cold bIoodied. Seen how many flies there are in outback Oz?

I never said that RD. Did you even read - and understand - my comment?

Did that also happen in 1896 and 1920? Warmest December on record in UK

If it's global warming then it's global warming. The talk of "climate change" has made it easier for doubters to ignore it. Let's just have the truth....
