I believe theres another troop transport sunk in Boston Harbor {lower Mills in Dorchester Mass during the British evacuation of Boston. The salvage rights are owned by Barry Clifford. This ship was supposedly sunk in place by the British so as to avoid capture.

way back then it was like "space voyaging"...its incredible that it survived all that and still was hauling troops afterwards

I had a dream that ship was there.

Do I have a lawsuit?

I'd also be interested in the ship shown in the picture, unless I'm mistaken and they had color photography back in 1778.

Endeavor was probably renamed Lord Sandwich because Captain Cook named the Hawaiian Islands the Sandwich Islands on which he was killed...

Lord Sandwich was the patron of Cooks travels. Thank you that is all.

Tyler, that would have to have been John Montagu, 5th Earl of Sandwich, PC (26 January 1744 – 6 June 1814) as Captain Cooks three expeditions took place between 1768 and 1779. Earl of Sandwich is a 17th-century noble title created in 1660 for the prominent naval commander Admiral Sir Edward Montagu. I found reference to multiple banks and other nobles funding the voyages as well. Odds are Captain Cook named the Sandwich Islands honoring the Earl...

Cook spent his life exploring the Pacific ocean, discovering islands, and naming them after his friends.
