To all those ignorant commenters about Jia Jia being "eaten" or turned into footwear, just how disrespectful can you be. To those of you who think Hong Kong is a part of china? Have you even been there before? It's the exact opposite of china, after British rule for around 100 years. It's an international city and is one of the most civilised and developed places in the world. Jia Jia was well loved by all Hong Kongers, children grew up visiting her where had several care takers and vets caring to her every need. I understand that it's cruel to keep animals in captivity but you don't understand what dangers she faces if she had lived in the wild in china, many of you say how she will be turned into food or consumer goods well that's true if she was left in china but she came to Hong Kong where she was shielded from those cruel people. So please, grab a history book because Hong Kong is not china and you cannot apply China's horrid behaviour to Hong Kong.
