Urban jungle: Mountain Forest Hotel in the Wanfeng Valley, in Guizhou, China will be built inside a vertical forest by reconstructing a hill that originally existed at the site[CN]

Set in 400 acres of rolling hills, guests will be able to make use of a gym, lounge, VIP area, bar, restaurant and conference room. The towering hotel will be covered with trees to clean the air and to ensure guests feel like they are bedding down in the wild[CN]

Rather than just immersing guests in a far-flung location, an innovative architectural firm has gone one step further by taking its inspiration for a new hotel entirely from nature.

Mountain Forest Hotel in the Wanfeng Valley, in Guizhou, China will be built as a vertical forest resembling a mountainscape that originally existed at the site.

The 250-room property is the latest brainchild of Stefano Boeri Architetti (SBA), the design studio responsible for ground-breaking forest skyscrapers in Milan, Italy and Lausanne, Switzerland.

By imitating a hill, flattened years ago, the concept aims to emulate the ‘original topography and ecosystem’ of the Ten Thousand Peaks region. 

Set in 400 acres of rolling hills, the hotel will feature a gym, lounge, VIP area, bar, restaurant and conference room.

The towering structure will be covered with trees to clean the air and to ensure guests feel like they are bedding down in the wild.

A local artist, Simon Ha, is collaborating on the interior design of the  property with Hong Kong based Catchet Hotel Group.

Symbiosis between the natural and man-made world is at the core of the design, according to SBA.

The hotel concept follows the studio's Bosco Verticale prototype which was the world's first forest in the sky apartments, unveiled in 2014. 

The award-winning development in Milan has trees equal to one hectare of forest spanning 27 floors. These 365 and 260-foot emerald, twin towers are home to 730 trees, 5,000 shrubs and 11,000 ground plants. 

Describing vertical foresting as the eco-conscious future of architecture, SBA reports on its website: 'Every day architects all around the world rethink and reinterpret the idea of the trees in the sky. 

'Each of these attempts is extremely important for the future of architecture and the future of our planet, because the single thought can have certain impact, but thousands of thoughts can change the world.' 

Through these green designs, the firm aims to 'slow down climate change, reduce CO2 emissions and make our living sustainable and in harmony with nature,' according to its manifesto.
