Amazing sport. Look at all these haters on here. You lefties should go and hug a tree.MarshianReply toRagnar Danneskjold
So did I, so I went to a corrida in Niems (France) held in the old Roman ampitheater 20 years ago. It was a dramatic and brutal affair and Earnest Hemmingway really did sum it up in "Death in the afternoon". You need a strong stomach and an ability to tolerate cruelty if you are going to sit through it. You of course coulg go to Mexico to see one but I do not recommend it! "5 years on, older and wiser, I think this particular bloodsport should be confined to the annuals of history. Incidenyally the EU funds the activty as a regional cultural activity and is considered one reason that influenced many British people to vote to leave the European Union.PROUD feminist girl
Rest in peace you brave, brave entertainer. A hero who gave his life for the love of the sport. A sad, sad day!smokintarmac
Long may the sport and the tradition continue, I've always like bull fighting, it's a skill.SemperFi
So many ignorant people. Bullfighting is a work of art, a beautiful dance. Great respect is shown to the bull.Vee13Reply toSemperFi
Yea, you sadistic barbarians who groove on the brutality of that ridiculous "sport" and all it entails, from the silly costumes and the ludicrous machismo, to the savagery of that blood sport are surely ignorant. You need to look up the definition of "respect", you have no idea of its meaning, that's obvious. What a laughable brainless culture, get with it you simpletons, it's not the Middle Ages any longer.Siobhan79Reply toSemperFi
Read the Below SemperFI.....Really respectful treatment, I think its you that's ignorant. The bull is not an aggressive animal, and the reason he is angry and attempts to charge at the matador whilst in the bullring is mainly because he has been horrendously abused for the previous two days. In fact, what spectators see is not a normal, healthy bull, but a weakened, half-blinded and mentally destroyed version, whose chances of harming his tormentors is virtually nil.by george
What a brave man to face such a ferocious bull. That takes nerves of steel never mind the skill. he will get a royal send off no doubtHermann-Walther
RIP to the brave bullfighter. I usually go to the festivals in Spain once per year, but unfortunately I have been busy this year with work so only my wife and kids went. Bullfighting is an art, and the bulls do not feel anything. It is very human.e.Pat HortonReply toHermann-Walther
Are you fricking crazy???? They have a sword put through them before they even get into the ring. It's outdated, barbaric and down right cruel. Time it was banned along with all the other terribly cruel so called sports to animals they do here in Spain.Jeanne
Many people around the world detest bullfighting, but that is no reason to ban it. It is a Spanish tradition, like it or loathe it.Crystal Hope
I'll take the bull when they kill it. I'm feeling hungry. Don't worry I'm going to eat some tobouli with it.DeshaunWinters
Animal lovers will be hysteric over this as usual.Oh please give me a break. By the way these animal treatement articles are probably the only articles where liberals are out in full force on this site. If you don't like their customs, deal with it. Their customs, their way, their choice. End of it. I don't tell others what to do and others can't tell me what to do. By the way I've always been a vegitarian and I don't like this as well but I don't believe in enforcing my opinion upon others and denigrating others' customs calling it cruel, barbaric etc.. If you force others to do something, they won't like it. These practices will gradually dissappear as globalisation and increased awareness is making many people dislike their own customs involving animals. There's no need to force them.Libertymama
I am appalled at all the "serves him right" comments. This is a human being who died. Think of your sons, fathers, brothers. Most think he "deserved" it. God forbid if we all got what we truly deserved. Where is your heart? Its for the damn bull.Chatnoir
Bullfighting might not sit well with a lot of people, but these hate-filled, sickening, gleeful comments about the matador's death speak more about the people making them. You guys should be ashamed of that kind of sentiment. Disgusting. Now it's Lord of the Flies.swissinlondon
Hopefully all of the people who made stupid comments in favour of the bull are vegetarians. If not they are hypocrites! Again hopefully, this old Spanish tradition will continue for long long into the distant future.A girl has no nameReply toswissinlondon
Killing an animal for entertainment purposes in front of a paying public cheering it's not comparable with eating animals for nutritional purposes. There are several levels from being vegetarians to being cold blooded murderers. People here are probably not all vegetarians, but that doesn't mean they are hypocrites, they are simply not cold blooded murderers. It's a barbaric Spanish tradition and until it will continue I will visit other more civilized countries.Smellthecoffee
Bullfighting in Spain goes back hundreds of years. A young man has lost his life. If you are shouting this is barbaric and you eat steak you are a hypocrite. It's a bloody cow. Grow up.Epic_Sceptic
All of you hateful vengeful lot that are glad the matador is dead, as you tuck into your lamb chops or dead cow next time give some thought as to whether or not the slaughter man deserves to be killed also.
