I wonder how many on here putting stupid comments actually eat meat and realise how your burgers come from. A 18 month old bovine kept in a crate all its life is far more cruel than having a bull treated like a king for 5 years before having 15 minutes in the ring at the end of life. Bunch of hypocrites

No cruelty is acceptable. Why try and justify it?

Making the killing of an animal into 'sport' is barbaric. And not everyone eats burgers.

Oh well that makes it all ok then !The bulls been treated well for the last five years so it shouldnt feel as bad now when its slowly slaughtered and bled to death for the entertainment of others now then

Maybe true in many cases unfortunately, but I wouldn't go to those crates watching and clapping my hands while they kill them for the beef.

People who honestly celebrate the death of a young man because of his perceived cruelty towards a farm animal have lost the plot. Btw, you people do realize that these kind of Bulls would relentlessly fight each other during mating season, often leading to the death of one of the competitors? Fighting and dying in the process is engrained in bulls. Enjoy your next steak, produced from cows that did not have a remotely as nice life as any of these pampered fighting bulls. I guess killing animals factory style without them ever having seen the sun is morally superior towards the backward Spaniards.

Be careful you don't slip off your moral high horse. So bulls fight each other - that's nature. Animals are killed for food - and as much as I am not for this, with me being a vegetarian - that's nature.Humans killing animals for sport is not nature. It is cruel and unnecessary.

Well why was he is a ring with an animal that is so dangerous then?? Stupidity. Don't try defend this. He deserved what he got and I hope something good comes out of it like this 'sport' stopped. And if not I hope many more suffer the same faith as him. What enjoyment can come out of this?? The only outcome is death and people enjoy this as a sport?Pampered bull?! The bull has blood streaming out of him!!! Whenever you're ready and back in the real world start commenting. Until then climb back under a rock. A big rock

How can people say they're pleased that the matador is dead? Yes, this tradition is crazy and barbaric but come on...would you be glad if your loved one did this and he died? Would you say to this man's wife's and parents' faces that you're glad their loved one is dead? I'm against animal cruelty, but also against heartless people making mean comments without thinking.

I agree with you, it's possible he genuinely did believe this was a noble sport, a tradition of his country, an honour to be part of. His death is unfortunate and I'm sure his wife and family are heart broken. I do think the bull and all of the Bulls are the victims here though. I hope the one thing his death does achieve is that this "sport" will be banned.

So many people, here, getting on their moral high horse. A human life is gone. Extinguished. I suppose all of you leaving despicable, insensitive comments have never had a burger in your whole life? And before you chime in about these bulls being t o r t u r e d, what do you think is going on in some abattoirs? Do you think the bovine are singing Christmas carols and chugging fine wine from gilded goblets? Watch a documentary called, Earthlings - perhaps, you might reconsider your Sunday lunch meal choice. There's a time for everything, now is not the time for this repudiation.

JohnReply toLawdHelpUsAll
Well said. I've watched Earthlings and it was a horrific wake-up call for me. If we're going to eat meat then the animals should be treated humanely and killed quickly. Everyone on earth should have to watch that film before eating another piece of meat. Maybe then things would change.

RDC1986Reply toLawdHelpUsAll
Idiot comment. Yea we do eat burgers but those animals are stabbed multiple time for entertainment. It's a cruel sick sport that needs to be banned. I went to a bullfight in Mexico naively not knowing they stabbed the bull to death. Whilst watching it I wished for nothing more than the bull to jam his horns straight through the cruel sicko murdering him for entertainment

RIPEReply toLawdHelpUsAll
I eat meat. I have been in an abattoir, they're, obviously, not nice places. One man spent his day punching the skin away from a cows carcas, he had callouses on his knuckles the size of 10 pences. But this is the slow killing of a creature by stabbing it with spears in front of a baying crowd for fun and it's classed as a sport!

As I was reading the article I kept thinking how bad the bullfighting is, but when I went to the comments I was disgusted by people who went to a haterage and actually believe that he got what he deserved. Just imagine if you choked from a chicken bone and your death went public, all vegeterians could say that you were a monster and the world is better now. How nice will be for your family... And before you say it is not the same, well, it is for a group of people so they can hurt as much as they want your family. You can choose what kind of person you want to be, but don't pretend to be better than the rest of us. You don't have the right to hurt someone even if you hate him. Instead we could all agree how bad bullfighting is for the bull and for the people. If you believe this is the cause to fight for then you could show this death as an example to stop bullfighting and to change the minds of the "monsters".

Lessons must be learned, in the future, all bulls reared for fighting must have their horns sawed off under anesthesia to prevent such incidents from happening again.
