Hope she does not develop TMJD sometime in the future. Orthodontists have been destroying lives for decades because their textbook is wrong. The Dental establishment are not interest in accepting this because after going through the lengthy process of agreeing what should be in the new textbook, any Dentist doing orthodontics would have to go back to University for a year. Given the huge amount they charge in fees they are never going to accept that. It's a case of nothing wrong here - go away. Meanwhile lots of patients start to experience all sorts of symptoms which come under the heading TMJD. I am one of those patients. It has destroyed my life since it all began sixteen years ago and neither the GDC nor the two Dentists involved could care less.

I'm sorry to hear about your health issues. I have read about others developing TMJD after dental treatment. It is a risk with dental procedures that very few know about. Unfortunately, you have been one of the unlucky ones. I hope you can get referred to different medical professionals who may be able to help you get some relief from the pain and discomfort. It must be horrendous living with chronic pain in your face as even simple toothache drives me crazy!

You can alter your face, you cannot alter your genes, so sadly the surgery will continue into the next generation and the next ad infinitum

It could be a rare recessive gene in which case the chances of her kids suffering will be small

I wondered what Ken Dodds kids would look like

She didn't have a facial deformity; she just wasn't 'perfect'. Lots of us have imperfect faces (I certainly have). I wish I could get my face fixed for free.

look at the side photos - her lower jaw was significantly smaller than the upper jaw, an extreme underbite. that is in deformity territory; her jaw would not have worked properly with that extreme difference.

Look at the poor girl's teeth¿misalignment and malocclusion like that make it difficult to eat, make dental caries more likely, and set her up for even more problems as she gets older. If that's not a deformity, I don't know what is.

See your GP about it.

Jealous? I bet you're a typical 'frenemy' the sort of person who tells a grossly overweight friend that they look fine, because you would feel threatened if they lost weight and improved their appearance.

Medically speaking, she did have a deformity - most teenagers do not have the jaw of an 8 yo. If she hadn't had the surgery, she would've been an adult with a child's jaw, and extremely likely to have suffered as an adult with those overcrowded teeth. Speaking of 'frenemies', I've a same-age cousin who was always 'the skinny one'. We met up last week at a family funeral (haven't seen each other in 6 yrs) and she didn't even say hello - just looked me up and down as if something smelled bad and remarked, well, you've lost a lot of weight, haven't you!

you are all using comments with no substance to validate your need to conform with social beauty. louise is the only good person, you may not be vocal about it, but you are all the same as the bullies. 99.999% of the girls suffering came from looking different and being judged. not physical problems. eating may be a bit more difficult etc but these are paper thin arguments and self-serving.

I must be missing something but I couldn't find the bit that says how she got her teeth looking like that? Are they her original teeth?

Awesome corrective surgery. She should be happy, but her teeth went from white to brown.

What's? Am I looking at different pictures to everyone else. Her teeth were clearly whiter before.

Why is her hairline and the width of forehead different?
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
MillydogReply toNativeAngeleno
Because it was work completed over several years - hence she grew

Great. But not "pioneering" surgery I 'm afraid. My son had this done in Sweden two years ago. The surgeon was amazing. He does four every week.
