We will never stop being thankful of our allies, Britain, US, Canada, ... Each year, we still commemorate their sacrifices for France.

Thank you and the French people, Caterine. We Americans remember well the French sacrifices for our young country. And don't worry about politicians - they represent all of our countries poorly. It's what they do best. Regards.

WWII wouldn't have happened if the greedy lazy French socialists hadn't forced extortionate reparations on the German causing mass starvation and hyperinflation.

Roger -- Please learn some history mate. What about the "extortionate reparations" placed on France by the Prussians/Germans in 1871? You talk utter crap about starvation and hyperinflation.

And what about the Indians who fought for a country they never ever knew about and the people from the Caribbean countries. These are the people who are forgotten and downtrodden. They were sent from their families thousands of miles and died for a cause they had no idea about. People forget

What a beautiful job that youngster has done! A small but wonderful glimpse into what can be accomplished when youth isn't wasted, fictitiously glorifying itself while burying itself on Twitter and Facebook. Well done, young Man!

This is a tremendous project that's been superbly carried out. Congratulations young man in making one of the ugliest times in our modern history very real. These images will now go a very long way in making this era a visual deterrent to never allow this to happen again.

I often wonder if these heroes would do it all over again if they could come back and see todays Europe that they fought so bravely for and offered their live for.

I just love the DM's captions on any military photos.

Apart from the last 'fighter jets' one.

Rufus McDufus, the Germans actually had fighter jets such as the me-262, but yeah I get your drift. Nonetheless the caption is acceptable, even if barely.

I know they did, but not at D-Day.

Rufus McDufus: Britain and the US also had fighter jets in WW II. Britain was flying the Gloster Meteor over Britain--at the time of D Day--and the US had a squadron of P-80 Shooting Stars operational in Italy 7 months later.

I'm a Brit who lived in the USA and am married to an American...we both have our own strengths and weaknesses..they compliment each other well...kick ass vs steady..gung-ho vs careful..but all must have been brave and fought hard and long when there were times they must have known they would die...it's a shame that all these years later those of us not even born want to spout about who did what instead of just appreciating we worked well together...just like me and my hubby!!!

Excellent photos. Not everyone likes them, but colorized photos, when done well, help bring the subject matter into the present. Great work, Jared.

Wow, those are the most natural and convincing colourised photos I've ever seen. They normally look a bit strange, but these could pass for originals.

The young man who put this history into color did a yeoman's job. They're absolutely magnificent. They will give the younger generations something to relate to when viewing these. But somehow, the monochrome reveals the raw and real emotions of this period in time.

And to think, they died to see the likes of Kim K being celebrated and made rich for absolutely nothing, to see their countries destroyed by barbarians with a spineless government letting them do it, they would be horrified if they could see what they died defending!
