The color captures an added dimension and brings depth to the men and where they were at that time. If you've never seen The Winds of War and War and Remembrance, the mini-series from the 80's it's something to see from a historical perspective it is just excellent. It is very riveting.

It was the Germans who occupied France in WW2.La Rochelle and Royan were not liberated until May 1945.

I just watched Band of Brothers again the other day and it is amazing to see the lads from Easy Company in these pictures.
