An extra 25 years? With the current obesity epidemic, that means 25 more years of pain, complications and surgeries for most people, and where is the money going to come from to support them?

I don't think anyone would like to live extra painful decades. But extra healthy life, maybe! The funding is the problem. Unless there are some very well-known firms willing to fund then it could make a difference.

Not a great time to invent something that could make us live longer. There are grave concerns about pensions already.

That won't matter. We'll be healthier longer and will be able to work a lot longer, although I think artificial intelligence and robotics will bring the era of work to a close before long.

They shouldn't keep trying to keep people alive especially when they won't be able to live their lives no one would want to live forever

People in their 70s and 80s now grew up on wholesome unprocessed food...i don't think younger generation will live as long.

Great comment and so true. Today's computer gaming couch potatoes hardly ever play out in the street - as a kid I remember playing games and running wild in the fresh air. Kids now if outside seem to play unstructured, no idea of child games - which teach cooperation and discipline with others.......now, they are in their own little world. I actually feel deeply sorry for them, and such as Bill Gates have ruined childhood with their addictive junk which needs constant expensive upgrading. I don't want to be really old in a world like this.

There are some risks doing this study although it sounds very exciting that it's able to add a few more decades of lifespan by average. However, I believe this is not the only way to rejuvenate a human in a bid to slow down the aging. I think that nano-robots will be a key should one wish to live much longer. Also environmental impact may change the lifespan.

Somehow i dont think so. People will still die from cancer at all ages. I dont think we have a say when we 'last' to. Ill go when its my time. Whether i like it or not.

Earth can't cope with that and neither can the people. Imagine being 100 and then being told that you're stuck at that level of mental and physical ability for another 25+ years. Another 25+ years watching the world fall apart..

I don't want to live until 108. I think 80 is old enough. Ridiculous.

I used to think 80 is enough. Now I'm 60 I've gained some insights ( didn't have it 20 yrs. ago). Keeping this physical body system in good shape is key. Age is really a number and each person's overall well being doesn't always reflect that number.

a longer quality of life is whats important here. if you can get to 1100 with the fitness of a 70 year old then if its worth it. if its just going to get you to 130 and in that shape then whats the point ?

Nah, a couple of glasses of Merlot and some chocolate in the evenings will cure all that. My gran takes her Harley to town to get us the wine and stuff we need for the evening.
