I'm 42 now, the way this country is going I don't know what age I'd like to live to, it's bad now but what awaits in 1 year 3, 5, 10, 20 years?. My country has gone down hill rapidly and it's only going to get worse. Luckily I have dual citizenship with Canada through my father and I'm going to seriously look at the idea of taking a long hike for the rest of my days hoping I'll die older and happier than staying in the UK.Rant done.Merry Christmas everybody.

I emigrated to Australia in 1992. We have the same problems as the UK, but on a much smaller scale. Same applies to Canada. I return to the UK about twice a year, and it is unrecognisable from my youth.

0-20 grow up and get educated. 21-60 work if you can. 61-100 enjoy a 'good' retirement. 101-108 watch daytime tv til the grime reaper comes. Seems fair.

Maybe in years to come for younger generation. But let's face reality. My pension is being paid on the expectation of me living another 10-15 years, 20 at the most. Should I live longer, very nice, but what would happen? Who would pay?
