From my research I discovered that Nicola Tesla was using his large energy transfer machine at that time. Perhaps he sent too large a jolt into the earth and this is where it appeared.

Alien spacecraft attempting controlled decent. Engines went critical, and exploded. That's the plot from my book anyway.

We need to learn more about this. Imagine if another one visits Earth and instead of Siberia, it hits the UK...

We'll be okay if we invoke Article 50 first.

It'll be the EUs fault.

If we stay in the EU we will be entitled to the single history lesson and we will find out exactly how the EU did it

I was always taught in school that this left an enormous crater. We even had pictures of it. I know that was at least 60 years ago but was my teacher a dunce or something. This subject has come up many times before

Charred rain deer found by hundreds ? Is that me or does that make sense?

Mystery? No - meteor exploding around a mile above the forest. Well documented and proven....

Not proven at all

The anecdotal evidence, at least, is fairly comprehensive.

It was a Vulcan Survey Ship.

it was caused by an air burst from a disintegrating meteorite. That's why there was no impact crater to be found.

Is that a real thing? I have no idea...

I wish I'd found this article earlier, the comments are hilarious. All the mad tinfoil hatters with their even madder Tesla "theories".

Todays satellite images should still show the orientation of the fallen trees, if you have a circular pattern this would indicate an explosion high in the atmosphere if you have a lateral orientation this would indicate an object glancing blow causing a massive sonic boom felling the trees as it entered the atmosphere before the object carried on back out into space.

Denis BarreReply tofoghorn leghorn
It was an airburst explosion; this is well known, although the altitude estimates vary.

There was no pattern to the downed trees? They all look to be in alignment. If there was a circular pattern, they should have been able to identify the epicenter. Well, off to the Google machine with me...!

Oz73Reply topetefunker
Yes, there is an epicenter. It's already been studied and the scientists found it was a meteor that exploded above ground rather than making an impact. This article is ridiculous.

I'd like to add another potential candidate: Nikola Tesla! ------- He would have been 52 in 1908, and was an absolute genius. There are rumours that an experiment of his was responsible for Tunguska --- look it up!

"...There are rumours..." ~~~~~~~~~~ Right.

@Len: Look it up and THEN be sarcastic! ----- Since the American govt STOLE all Tesla's papers and he actually died penniless - rumours is has to be. His patents are now the Federal Government of the USA's property.

The picture they say was from 1908 was taken in 1921.

One of the crazy ideas, is that it is the result of one of Nicole Teslas experiments

Remember an episode of the mysterious world of Arthur c Clarke, what was devoted to this. Very interesting series. They should repeat them.
