French rugby league player facing ban for life after horrific punch knocks out referee and puts him in hospital

Civil proceedings will do. Merely banning him from the sport for life kind of glorifies the act. He should be ashamed of himself.

Assault and ABH , it matters not that it happened during a sports game. He won't get jail but a life ban would warn others.

Never mind a life ban, he's not safe out on the streets if that what he does to authorities. He should be locked up in a secure place until he's no longer able to hurt anyone, in around 60 years time

Never mind being band for life from the sport he should be locked up for a good number of years.No matter what country why is it that if a so called sports man starts to punch and hit other people on a football/rugby or any other sports field they get away with but if he done that in the street it's GBH or possibly worse.Sickening

If that was done in the street he would be arrested for assault but they only want to suspend him, beggars believe.

Rugby is a gentlemans sport. He doesn't have the maturity and aptitude to be a player of the great game. He should go to prison for the assault.

This guy should be jailed as well as banned. You expect a few digs in rugby but this is something completely different. He basically sucker punched the ref.

Criminal assault off to jail.

Just last year in the NHL a Calgary Flames player viciously cross-checked an official from behind. He was originally suspended for 20 games, but only say out 10. That official has never fully recovered, and it's suing the player and the team. The player should've been suspended for at least a whole season. Disgusting!!!
