A Boeing 777 plane suddenly got into the zone of strong turbulence before starting to descend

Seatbelts are there for a reason.

Much as I'd like to blame the Russians, this could have happened to any airliner and it's a testament to BOEING and to these pilots that the plane remained under control despite the horrifically violent turbulence it few through. Glad it ended well.

So an unqualified person makes an unsubstantiated hesitant comment " probably broken their spines" and the DM takes this as fact and "BROKEN spines" becomes the headline. The sickening DM mantra 'Never let the truth get in the way of sensational click bait' is still loud and clear.

So the DM is reporting broken spines from someone's opinion?!

What happened to the sign which states, 'Please keep your seatbelt fastened at all times'? Or does it not apply to Russia?

There is a reason why crew make announcements to keep seat belts fastened at all times.

That's what happens when you don't follow safety guidelines such as keep seatbelt fastened while in our seat and only move about cabin to use restroom. It's in the pamphlet.

The preflight instructions ALWAYS advise you keep you seatbelt fastened even when the seatbelt light is off... PRECISELY to prevent events like this one. Every time you read about people being injured by turbulence, remember, the belted passengers suffered minor or no injuries, while the unbelted passengers were thrown about the cabin like rag dolls.Unless you are on your way to the toilet, BUCKLE YOURSELF IN people!

Pick the language. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the captain. We've reached our cruising altitude of _ _ _ _ _ ft. It's smooth so I'm going to turn off the seatbelt sign. However, when you are in your seats please keep your seat belt securely fastened around you just in case we encounter any unexpected turbulence. That is for your safety and those around you. When the seatbelt sign is on, remain in your seats with the seatbelt fastened."

Thats why you are told to.always have your seatbelt on. I remember my first time on a plane, some lads laughed as I tied the belt and left it on after taking off, then half way in the flight the plane suddenly dipped and both flew out of their seats! After they battled their embarrassment I looked at them with a look of "told you so!". They were actually on the same plane back-didnt see that seatbelt off til ot landed!

Terrible scenes but what a relief to know the plane stayed in the air,they say no turbulence by itself can bring a modern commercial airliner down and this certainly seems to back that up!

Maybe now people will listen to the cabin crew

Wishing all injured a speedy recovery, what an awful thing to have happen. Can only imagine how difficult a situation it was for the pilot!

Dear DM someone taking a video on their phone and saying there were probably broken spines is speculation not a fact to make your headline better

I ALWAYS wear my seat belt unless going to toilet. Makes sense. They always advise keeping them fastened but people being stupid do not think ahead!!

Very frightening but always keep your seatbelt on especially when specific warnings are given.
