That is one small minority in China, not China overall. There are 54 official ethnic minorities in China (actually many more) and you are talking about just one of them. Don't run your mouth about things you have no knowledge of.

Many of these peasants are really thugs. I had to deal with one or two when I was there. Police are worthless. They do not want to get involved. Even Youtube shows dozens of cases where the police stood by while thugs stabbed someone to death or beat them to death. It's much worse there then in the USA as far as this goes.

True. But on the other hand, the commie thugs did succeed in uniting the country, throwing the foreigner imperialists out (like we did to the Brits... remember?) and growing the Chinese economy to undreamed of heights...

@Alex - it was NOT the communists and Mao that grew Chinese economy. Quite the opposite - they destroyed it and killed millions (in their own country and neighboring countries). Only after Chinese allowed capitalism back in the economy started growing.

I'm thankful to China for one thing - My wife and her family. The rest can go to hell. China will fall and its going tobe ugly when she does.

Herminator - Mao did the first two things I mentioned - united the country and threw the foreign imperialists out. Nobody is perfect, certainly not Mao. He screwed up big time, but before that he also accomplished a lot. After he died, the communist party used capitalist tactics to rebuild the economy. The same party has been in power the whole time. Same flag. Mao's picture is still on Tiananmen.

West, so you traveled to China and experienced this? I lived there for 5 years and I can tell you it is safer then here.

Most people, in many cultures are good people. Some cultures are too supremacist by nature to be considered good, by most others. Poor lady.

@Kam Mac - I'm not justifying or rationalizing anything - I said that Mao "screwed up big time", and he did - the "Great Leap Forward" and "Cultural Revolution" (if he was even responsible for that one) were disastrous. But that doesn't negate the good things he accomplished, which laid the foundation for China's subsequent stability and growth. Without Mao, China could still be totally divided, corrupt, poor, backward, dominated by vicious, genocidal foreign powers, just like it was up until 1949. Why don't you learn what the British, French, Russians, Japanese, etc. did to the Chinese people? Drugs all over the place, severe poverty and starvation, horrible crime, constant war... I guess all that is fine with you, right, simply because they don't happen under a red flag?

Uh, actually, China is becoming more like America everyday. It was the influx of Europe and America for cheap labor that has taught China money is everything. Capitalism is to blame, not the other way around. I am sickened by the changes I see in China.

But don't overly romanticize the communist period ('49 - '79)... things got so bad that people were literally resorting to cannibalism... not much is worse that that! Social Democracy, as seen in the Nordic countries, is obviously the best system, but it too is under severe attack by capitalist fundamentalists...

Not hardly! I lived there, these men are azses, most Chinese are incredibly polite and helpful.
