...and to the stewardesses who think that they should be paid and revives the same benefits as the pilots - serving coffee and tea is not the same as saving 400 lives through good training, skills et al

Pay is based on training, skills, and responsibility, but I have never heard of your claim that they want the same pay. Benefits such as insurance and medical should be similar, as they would be just as dead or injured as the pilots, if the planes had crashed.

And the responsible persons (traffic controllers or the other pilot) should be sacked and their pension funds confisticated to pay this pilot.

Why did the pilot of the A330 not yield before entering the runway when seeing out of the left window that the runway was in use by an A320 taking off? Hmm.The Tenerife accident was caused by the KLM waiting a long while for visibility eventually starting without permission after losing patience almost making it over the PanAm taxiing on the same runway.

I can't recall whether the article mentioned the visibility during this incident but the Tenerife accident occurred in foggy conditions and the airport don't have ground-radar so air traffic control had no way of monitoring the movement of aircraft. But yes, the KLM pilot did start to talk-off without being given express authorisation to do so.

I bet the Captain had messy underwear after passing the other safely, but so would I have. Well done, and hope an inquiry will be given

Not to mention the underwater of all passengers sitting on the left of the crossing aircraft.

How much bonus for the cleaners of the other plane? Passengers looking out of the windows as his plane came towards them must have left a mess!!

If he hadn't taken off just then, even given a clear run, he'd have run off the end of the runway. Good skills though.

'Heroic' is not the word for the pilot's action. 'Skilful' is definitely the more appropriate word.

Maybe, but if you're one of the passengers, will you still think the same?

Great pilot. He deserves the reward for not hesitating. He made a split second decision - fortunately the right one.

As well as rewarding the plot for accelerating towards the other aircrat as the only viable escape route, will they also be paying the laundry bills for all of the passengers in the window seats of the taxi-ing aircraft who were treated to the spectacle of an aircraft accelerating towards then before leapfrogging them. Definitely brown trousers time.
