Its a shame the local business men will be the ones to lose out if that Aircraft Carrier isn't allowed to anchor in Hong Kong harbor. From the little "water taxi's" that shuttle the sailors back and forth from ship to shore, the restaurants,, the clubs, tattoo parlors, sightseeing tour companies, the stores and shops selling electronics, jewelry, and especially the stores that actually make tailored shirts and suits, those small business men will lose an awful lot of money. Just think of about 4 to 5,000 sailors with a month or two paychecks to splurge. Hong Kong is a city that captures the old, the people living and working the port on San-pans, to the new high rise apartments and office buildings. Its a fabulous city to sight see in and your money goes far and the people are friendly. Its a wonderful port to visit on a West-PAC.....

Who cares? I'd rather have that show of force at sea where the dirty Commies can see its full effectiveness. They still can't produce an effective counter to our Navy.

So Scott, you in the Navy, ready to defend your country or some dumb kid who just brags but has never walked the talk. This is coming from a Vietnam vet 1970, Pleiku. If you haven't served then sit down and shut up.

@M, LOL tell him "M". They all think they have the "melons" because they sit in front of some freaking War video game and rack up points. Their the ones running to Canada when asked to sign on the dotted line, or take up space in college on Daddy's dime with a "C" average. I also served 1970-74, 2 West-PAC's, and I thank you for your service....

And who is cranking up the tensions and being militarily aggressive and provocative in the ECS and SCS, yeah you know, CHINA!!!!, EFFING hypocritical lying little pucks. They do unfriendly things like this, break international law on a daily basis, provoke the U.S. and our allies by encroaching into their EEZ'S using their military and then have the gall to try and place the blame on the U.S.. China won't be happy until they start a shooting war with the U.S. and their allies and gets the military crushed..., truly sad.

USA is getting disrespected on a daily basis all around the world on Barry's watch. That is no coincidence.

Forget Hong Kong, how about Cam Ranh Bay, Subic Bay or Rangoon? The smaller Asian countries worried about China's bullying would be happy to see our fleet. China has enough of our money already anyway.

Funny that the Navy should even ask. Wonder if they think China would welcome them with open arms after what's been going on in the South China Sea. The advice for attorneys never to ask a question that you don't know the answer to applies to all other situations too.

Have they stopped containers heading to the U.S. from leaving ports? Sure, it makes U.S. look like the suckers the are for even having such a large trade deficit with China.

I've been on 2 port calls in Hong Kong before it was given back to China, and for a sailor there is really nothing there except for high-rises and congestion. Navy ships have to anchor out in the harbor, and that is really the most excitement of the place is the scenery from the harbor.

China what a nice bunches of guys more power with America Taxpayer money all I can say our Brillant Dumb #$%$ Senators Congressman, but if we offer a transgender restroom we might be able to get in the Hong Kong port.

Agree 100%. I've constantly written on these Liberal Yahoo! comment sections about what this country has become since that Kenyan village boy took office. We ARE the laughing stock of the world now and it's because of that community organizing idiot.

So what if they can't go to HK. Go to Subic Bay instead, the sailors will love it.

America the Imperialist – Military Might:

- Has the United States been a force of good or ill in the world?

Are we a peace loving people? Are we a predatory imperil power?

I guess that it could depend on who we have saved or conquered.

Wait a minute, didn't we save China from Japan?

MReply toDale

So when you say "We" do you mean you were in WWII, if not then "YOU" saved no one.

simple, deny port of call for China ships bringing product to US.

I think most of you are not considering the fact the Hong Kong is a Chinese City. Also have the Chinese navy ever requested to make a port call at a U.S. city? While I have mixed feelings on the South China sea issue, I can't imagine any scenario where China would want the crown jewel of American navy military might to set-up shop, or even stop and say hello, considering how they are having a #$%$ match in the South China Sea.

The USA should cost Taiwan. They are a democracy. Oh, I forgot, we don't recognize Taiwan as a country because we don't want to upset China.
