Dr's, in medical schools, are taught to shut up patients with pills, period. The medical schools are heavily funded by big pharma co's. You need to know that. And insurance is a game. They make you go to a general practitioner, to get your belly and other bits squished, weigh and measure you, then they pill you, while you WAIT 4 more months to see the "Specialist," who weighs and measures you and squishes you, prescribes more pills, and MAYBE does ha test. Usually the test of useless and it's meant to make you return for another "office visit," more insurance milking. More pills so you can make it another month, 2, 3, waiting for a diagnosis. But that never comes. They are always shady in their diagnosis, always pushing pills. If 1 doesn't work, try THIS one, THIS one is better, shiny and new! Nothing works, they seldom recommend surgery, or a true diagnosis, or true diagnostic tests that will definitively tell them ANYTHING, and they just want you to be a forever pillhead. This sounds like a George Carlin bit, but it's very true, and very scary. This is medicine in America. We are all now forced to have health insurance to keep the scams alive. Most doctors are foreign born and educated, and honestly have less medical knowledge that you or I with a good internet browser. Yes, it's that sad. Try paying cash for something; like the new blood test that will detect every single heart problem, for $174, 174 genes tested, $1 per gene. I have a terrible genetic heart disorder in my family and it's very difficult to diagnose, until this blood test. I called a famous boston hospital and tried to just get that 1 blood test one, pay OUT OF POCKET for it, and since it's rampant in my family, with early death, I thought for certain, I would be able to do so. NOPE. No, you have to see a doctor, and have OTHER tests first, which are useless for this disorder, then come back and see the dr again, then maybe they would do the cheap blood test. Meanwhile, everything else costs an absolute fortune. .....That's medicine in America. Sometimes I think a witch doctor would have a better idea than these clowns in lab coats today. It doesn't matter your economic standing, you are shut up with pills as the 1st, Last, and Often Only resort. WRong, way wrong.

The answer is marijuana. Stomach troubles? Marijuana. Headaches? Marijuana. Muscle aches and spasms? Marijuana. Depression? Marijuana. Cannabis is one medicine to alleviate many ills, which is exactly why the government fights legalization.

There is a difference between the drug addict that begs for money or commits crimes so he ca get high on drugs and the people like Prince who had constant discomfort due to work related injuries. A drug addict shoots drugs and gets high; a person who is dealing with constant pain will seek something like a Fentanyl patch so he is more comfortable all the time. Prince worked hard--funny when he worked straight for one week that his brother-in-law or SOMEONE wouldn't tell him that he needed to seek medical help because his body needs sleep. Michael Jackson also had trouble with sleeping. Some people put too much pressure on themselves to be creative or artistic--some of these type A people are able to slow down because they learn they can get more self satisfaction from being a marriage partner or parent. Donald Trump says he sleeps three or four hours every night--Jim Cramer says he gets even less. They are willing to have a shorter life because they are not confident and do not value their own health as much as their need to achieve.

What's wrong with you people?? Get a life!!! Stop being haters!!!! You #$%$ bags!! You get information about a case and can't even report it right. And you people are living in glass houses and want to throw stones because his life was private. #$%$ you scrum parasites!!!!

Being addicted to opiate painkillers does not indicate that somebody is in pain. While it would be nice to think that he was just taking his prescriptions, it isn't likely.

Eman you sre right, he was in pain and he knew he was dying and choose to go this way. Let him be at peace. He has done nothing wrong, he was not a drug addict. He was dying anyway, leave him to rest. Thanks Eman

I agree. Just because he took Percocet doesn't mean he was an addict or a druggie. If so, then I guess all of the people in the world living with cancer or MS or other autoimmune diseases are addicts as well. It's a shame how quickly they are ready to label and judge him just to get their own name in print. That's sad. He was a person. A human. Treat him with respect. (Not you. You obviously feel as l do. I meant that towards others.)

Just shows the problem of addiction and the fact he was human. I'm not looking at the comments but no doubt the usual haters are here, douches. RIP Prince

There are a lot of people in pain from bad backs and knees and on pain killers for many many years and they live long lives most have a huge tolerance to these meds so it's really hard for them to OD. I've known people to live a long time into their 80"s on pain killers. I don't believe he died from the painkillers there has to be more to it like others have said he's worth way more now that he's dead.

folks believe everything they hear, y'all didn't know this man, the media didn't know this man, we only know his music, its so easy to assume that this man was an addict, please stop believing everything you hear and read!!

How does that 'fit' with being a Jehovah's Witness? (Wasn't that Michael Jackson's family religion, too?)

Addiction is does not discriminate. All races, religions, sexes, are eligible. It does not care if you are rich or poor, educated or uneducated. If you have the right DNA makeup to become an addict it will happen when introduced to a substance....be it alcohol, pills, IV, gas.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
DaReply toL

It does not "fit". Do not "judge" or criticize EITHER Prince the person, or the Jehovah's Witnesses in general, on the basis of, or because of, this whole convoluted, sordid, confusing mess and tragic incident.

I do not know exactly what Prince's status within the Jehovah's Witness Congregation was at the time of his death....I can only state what I know personally, and that is Drug Abuse (legal or illegal) and Falsely obtaining legal drugs for bogus or exaggerated reasons are SINS, clearly violating Bible Principles (i.e. God's expectations for mankind.) If Prince was indeed guilty of these types of activity/behavior, and if he had lived and it had been brought to the attention of the Congregation Prince attended, he would have been Disciplined and Counseled by the Congregation Elders/servants, and this discipline MIGHT have included (But not limited to) restriction from participating in congregation activities (such as preaching door to door), or it most likely would have led to a temporary disfellowshipping, whereby Prince is shunned by the congregation and treated as someone who is no longer a Jehovah's witness: This is done primarily to keep the congregation (espeically Jehovah's name) clean and apart from reproach (in other words, the exact thing which started THIS post, where a couple people made the assumption or 'link' that somehow Prince's activity was "OK" within the Jehovah's witnesses, which it clearly is NOT.) But the other MAIN intent behind disciplining a Jehovah's witness who is guilty of wrongdoing is to get the person to "REPENT" (which means literally to TURN AROUND) of their wrongful behavior and return back to Jehovah! And obviously, if Prince had lived and somehow his congregation found out about his substance abuse, they would have urged, even 'helped" him get the medical and professional help (along with the SPIRITUAL HELP) required, which obviously would be one component of his true repentance.

But this is both conjecture at this point, as well as MOOT.....and here is why:

When a person actually DIES, their SINS (all of their sins) are PAID for, in full! Read Romans 6:7 and you shall see what I am saying. Whatever Prince did or did not do in life, or whatever he was guilty of......when he passed away, his sins were PAID. He is now "Asleep" in death, awaiting his possible resurrection that happens during and after Jesus' Return (the second coming) and hopefully, Prince will hopefully be given a second chance to get it right during the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ's kingdom ,,,,,Hopefully, his fellow JW Congregation members are NOT receiving too much disruption or unwanted attention or harassment due to Prince's death and the circumstances around it.

But bottomline, Prince was doing something he knew, or should have known, to be wrong according to his own religion. And as the Bible warns, a person "reaps what they sow"......This is not to cruelly belittle or judge Prince anymore than he already has been, and the Bible also spends a great deal of time, emphasis and effort talking about and demonstrating Jehovah's love and compassion and forgiveness towards mankind, as well as Jesus Christ's love too,,,,,

OH, PLEASE! God, Godess, Witness, nor Catholics/Presbyterians/Baptists, has nothing to do with the death of Prince, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, or any other entertainer who's "crossed over". It IS DONE. Let IT BE. They Die WE WEEP...It's OVER! Let Prince Rest Peacefully.

So Prince was probably an addict. None of us knew him, he wasn't a drug dealer, he didn't sell someone drugs that ended up in their death. Aside from his brilliance, he endured #$%$sibly a mental illness and from what's been thrown around we can have a safe assumption that he had physical pains and was most likely taking meds to relieve those pains. Prince wasn't evil or dastardly or an #$%$, he didn't hurt or take advantage of people. He probably died from drugs, but 1 in 3 take medications everyday in this country for illnesses and survive a long time and these meds help them. Stop acting like Prince was a #$%$ for his drug use.

This does not and will not change my opinion of,and affection for, Prince. He was human, with flaws, that he obviously preferred to keep private.I can respect that. Perhaps he had a few quirks, big deal. Why make an issue out of this? Its ridiculous reporting imo.

I do want to know why Prince passed, but these headlines claiming these "grim" details is too much. Speculation to get people to click "tabloid fodder" is what this is.I know,I clicked too,but I cling to the small hope if enough people point out these articles are trash, then maybe something will change.

Anyways, addict or not,Prince was a brilliant talent, that has gone way too soon. RIP dear Prince.

Prince didn't want or need the attention. He was very private and if you look up his touring history, you will see he toured almost every year w little time off. He didn't need validation from the media, his ticket sales said it all.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
SOS.

Some in the news media should try more responsible reporting instead of trying to paint Prince as a drug addict thru unreliable sources, if drug overdosed, something went bad wrong with the prescribed opiates, then questions need to be ask of his doctors and those who knew he was being given this powerful and addictive meds, was there medical supervision and why was it being given and was someone in charge of giving him his meds?

Of the probably 500 recovering opiate prescription drug addicts I know, all of them used "chronic pain" as their excuse to get the drugs from doctors. Back ache or "torn rotator cuff" pain, etc shouldn't be treated long term with opiate pain pills as a rule. I'm sure there are exceptions but not in the numbers that we see going to pain doctors and leaving with prescriptions for hundreds of pain pills.

I talk a lot of politics and a lot of conspiracies and this is no different. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Scalia was found dead with a pillow over his face and there's more investigation into Prince's death than Scalia's.

Icepick Lobotomy BoyReply toAngry American

Actually the reports were that the pillow was over his head... not his face... these are not the same things. Be that as it may... I sleep with a pillow over my face all the time... Probably will have one over my face if I die in bed... No conspiracy there....

So he's willing to do cocaine which would be something his faith would be against but he would be willing be willing to walk around needing a hip replacement because the church he belongs to doesn't believe in blood transfusion if you guilty of one sin you're guilty of them all if you believe enough not to get your hip fix it's safe to say you wouldn't be doing cocaine

How many celebrities have used narcotics, prescription drugs, alcohol, and so on to cope with having fame and the effort to keep it?

Fans grieve so much when someone dies, but the public's unquenchable desire for stimulation has to be acknowledged as a a cause, doesn't it? It's as if fans are co-conspirators in these deaths. Then they move on to idolize the next person.

Maybe people should avoid the temporary rush from entertainment and take up other, better ways of passing the time.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
RamRoomReply toRichard

That's true, However, Prince was relatively obscure and opted to lead a private life. Given that, I would assume that he was in a less tense / demanding lifestyle. However, he did party a lot (Paisley Park), so it was more of a choice. I don't think he had horror encounters / stories with the media as did MJ and others.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]

The fans are responsible when these idiots take drugs? Are you on something? There's nothing about being a performer that requires use of drugs.

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]

Music IS a form of passing the time....through entertainment. All musicians (I am one) are not famous, and do not lead the kind of life even a semi-obscure artist does, thank goodness, or most of us would be dead too.

Prince led a fairly private healthy life style but needed pain meds for a hip injury (from what I have read) and surgery.

You know what's sad. Most People don't understand that the pain killers are actually causing the pain. Any physician worth a #$%$ will tell you long term pain meds (opiates) will catch up with you. There actually causing some of your pain. Education, physical activity, and with Doctor over site is key !

Always loved prince, God be with you... Always good memories when hearing his songs !!

Rob-

[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
it must be Dunning-Kruger . . .

#$%$ ? How many people reading the article have an RX for pain meds from an injury or post op? Having the meds doesn't constitute a drug addiction or any illegal activity so it'd be nice if the tabloids would just shut it until the autopsy results are released.

Gossip from an attorney who was employed by Prince's siblings is just that, trash gossip as they were not on good terms and any decent attorney would not act unprofessionally.

Why the media always have to find something wrong with people that made changes to others? Prince got people together, not like some of these other singers/rappers.When people get old, everyone has problems. They talked bad about Elvis,Michael, more, and now Prince.let this people rest in peace. Not at one time did I see Prince talk funny, act crazy, only in the movies he did. There are a lot of people who had babies by this man music,I am one of them. If you check every person who died at a old age Matt Miller(Reporter),they had some drug in their system.Stop trying make good singers into junkies. This man brought joy to others.R.I.P. Prince.

It's important to know that people who do good things and are good people can also abuse drugs. When we accept this, I think the stigma of substance abuse and addiction will lesson and real treatment can occur.
