This archaic practice should be banned as there is nothing humane about how these poor whales are butchered to death. Shame on the Faroe Islands for behaving like barbarians and not joining the 21st century.Annakar
The Faroese Islands have a wonderful, gentle and virtuous culture, except for this horrible tradition. It´s incredibly sad that they still do this. It should be changed into a day of remembrance for the past and how the Grindahvalir helped their people survive. They should honor the whales in this time of prosperity, not slaughter them mercilessly.ab
They cull whales in Norway. The reason they do this is because the whales eat the fish stocks there. So each year they have a quota of whales they can cull. If they didn't the whales would over populate eat all the fish stocks within the area leaving no fish for the areas that require it.
