We are but mere ghosts, we are spirits soaring, for who can say whether we are alive or we are already dead.Bebek66Reply toJonny_Smit
Why not?We have something he doesn't, it's called common sense. Also, as he believes Britain should have voted REMAIN, and he has been taken in by the Global Warming scam, I'm sure a lot of us readers are more sensible than this deluded, overrated 'scientist'.Also, regarding his much-vaunted theories, what has he come up with that is of any practical use to mankind? The History ManReply toJonny_Smit
Like most very smart people, Hawking can be a real fool when it comes to this kind of philosophising. What he is suggesting is well beyond any human capabilities, now and most probably even a thousand years from now. Progress will come to a halt as climate change really takes hold.TheGnostic
In some senses he is right. We may all be extiinnguished, just as: the Anatolian Xtians were all extiinnguished; the Jorddanian Xtians were all extiinnguished; the AIIgerian Xtians were all extiinnguished; the Liibyyan Xtians were all extiinnguished; the Tuuniisian Xtians were all extiinnguished; the Syyrriiac Xtians were mostly extiinnguished; the BabbyIonian Jws were all extiinnguished. So yes, there is a good possibility that 'there may be problems ahead'. But all the music, dancing and love in the world, are not going to help us.Ian_S_W
Although trying to predict a 1000 years hence is very challenging I doubt that human beings will become extinct by then even if we don't leave the planet. I think even civilisation will probably survive. And, besides, we would need to find an Earth-like planet. But even if we receive the telltale signals indicating oxygen and water etc, we couldn't know if it were exactly earth like I don't think? And there might be other intelligent beings on the planet already.
