Goats to the left! Sheep to the right! Make your own choice! The bible said that the love of things like money, evil, crime and hatred would be more popular than the love of the one true God. Thankfully, we live in a world where we can make our own decisions on such matters - at the moment!Preserved Limey
At the end of the day, it is really about belief and I support anyone's right to the freedom of believing what they wish to. I do not support another person's supposed right in pressurising me or anyone else to adopt that belief. I think that therein lies the problem with religion. I was raised to believe in God and Jesus. I chose not to subject my kids to that indoctrination but let them make their decisions. I have spent decades disabusing myself of misguided and wrong ideas.Emms
Because people are sick of countless generations of hypocrisy, being told what to do by people undemocratically placed in positions of 'authority' who practise anything and everything other than what they preach. Most people I meet are good people with what are effectively Christian values, but they do not practise them by going to church. The church still has its part in the future of this country - although I am not religious myself, I do believe that the church can offer huge benefits to the fabric of the community. But it needs to have a hard look at its representatives and policies to move foward. Times have changed whether they like it or not.MBAAA
All of us Christians should convert to the other great religion. We can then behave as we please, wear what we like and if anyone complains have them prosecuted for ChristianaphobiaMH1913
The figures around the decline/growth of Christianity are varied. There are groups that are growing and attracting significant numbers of young people. But you might like to watch on YouTube, John Lennox, Oxford University professor of Mathematics debate his Christian faith with Richard Dawkins etc. Faith or lack of Faith has nothing to do with intelligence - believers and non believers both have scientists, Ph'ds etc amongst their numbers. This is not the place to discuss all the reasons for belief/unbelief, but as a Christian who became one from an unbelieving home, I have found my faith bares the weight of intellectual scrutiny as well as meeting all that we need for human flourishing.Brian
This is what Blair & Cameron want, they are determined to get rid of any trace of the English Welsh and Scots by allowing people from other religions into the country. Cameron has agreed with the EU after the referendum that 220,000 can come in from the Eastern block countries.Truthisnotrelative
As a Christian I am pleased to hear we are having success persuading the majority people of this country (who do not follow Jesus' teachings) that they are not.dennis
Well, I would say that the current state of society would reflect that - perhaps this is the cause and not a symptom.Miss Floribunda Rose
Father I have sinned. Forgive me. Hi, everybody! During the 1970s, when I was in my teens, anyone jabbering on about religion would have been regarded as a total Loon. How times have changed! Now, it's everywhere. Yet further proof, if proof were needed, that our civilisation is in steep decline. Religion, especially of the evangelical variety, is a sure sign of this, as also is the importation of even more pernicious doctrines. The same phenomenon occurred in the late Roman empire, by the way, before its final collapse. I foresee a new dark ages fast approaching. Time for another pink gin, this time with a glacé cherry in it. Cheers!
