There is NO god. Religion was invented to control the gullible peasants thousands of years ago.

religion is for weak people who need a crutch or support. I believe in myself, I don't need an imaginary friend.

I`d prefer to spend my life believing in a god and when I die find out there isn`t one than to spend my life not believing and then when i die find out there is one.

Do you think it was Atheist who gave the West it's education, human rights, democracy, social organisations, charities, and human dignity?, think again, many of the things you now enjoy were pioneered by Christians who were inspired by the Bible. Some even laid down their lives so you can have freedom.

I think you'll find that it was the ancient Greeks who more or less invented democracy!

Doesn't mean your imaginary friend exists though. Religion was understandable in times passed when we had little understanding of the universe around us. Now we have started to answer those questions religion becomes more and more irrelevant. Remember my friend we are all atheists I just don't believe in one more god than you.

A firmly-held Christian belief gives a steel reinforcement to a person's character. The vagaries of secularism cause far too many people to just drift through life in a state of moral paralysis. Positive belief provides a person with the motivation for action.

What sort of God would create a world such as this one? A demonic God. A devilish God. A foolish God. A God to be shunned, and rejected out of hand by all thinking beings.

The world is magnificent; it is unfortunate about many of the people in it who do have a choice as to how they conduct themselves.

The christian belief is GOD created evil so you would have free choice for GOOD or EVIL, if he made a world without evil, we would just be robots that do his will, he wants friend in eternity who are like him who choose to resist evil.

I celebrate Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, I have no truck with your cuckoo-like hijacking of a decent festival that long predates the adoption of it by the early christian church. Get off my festival.

God kills children in other bits of the bible.2 Kings 2:24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys.

I was always partial to Timothy 2:12 myself: I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

People of Britain. Remember your culture, remember your heritage and be proud of it. When a country rejects its faith, the void left behind has to (and will be) filled by something else - like North Korea. People of other faiths will come and place their foothold on this nation - and Britain will have no identity and its people will be lost as other faiths (which do not have a heritage here) will begin to dictate the future of your children. Don't pay a huge price in creating a utopia that has unforeseen consequences for generations to come.

I am an atheist, but I have christian values. You do not have to believe some imaginary bloke created the universe and sent his son to save us to know the difference between right and wrong.
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
imeyoReply toimeyo
Then if I may ask - what is the point of having christian values if you don't believe in it's source?
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
DarmokReply toimeyo
Christians do not have the monopoly on values. Morals come from humans, not from God otherwise we would still have slavery. North Korea has a religion - its the worship of Kim Jong-Un. If Britain was a secular nation, no religion would be able to 'place their foothold on this nation'

DonnyReply toimeyo
They're not "Christian values" they're human values that are inherent to our species and we don't require the promise of reward or threat of damnation to adhere to them. Have some self respect, we don't need "divine permission" to know right from wrong. Our species would never have survived for as long as it has if we didn't inherently understand the need for mutual co-operation and respect for one another. Even animals know they need to work together for the benefit of the pride, pack or herd.

Since religion is untrue, this can be regarded as welcome news--though the decline of Christianity, alas, is also due to the rise of other, far more dangerous and pernicious belief systems.

Its also trendy to declare that you hold no religeon .So fervent in this belief it becomes a religion in its self.
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
mrmark1977Reply tohighjump
Spoken like a deluded Christian.1. People don't 'decide' not to believe in God because it's 'trendy'. There is NO 'decision'. No one 'chooses' to believe God doesn't exist one day. They either do, or they don't, or they're not sure. There's never a concious choice. If there were, you could just choose to believe the moon doesn't exist. 2. No, non-belief in any religion, is NOT a religion. The Christians that spout such nonsense show that they're either parrots just repeating what nonsense other Christians have said, and/or they're incapable of any intelligent thoughts.

Sorry...you're not so stupid as to think the world is better WITH religion, are you?Can you please sit down and think about this properly for a minute? In general, or on average, do people (especially women) have more freedoms and rights in heavily religious countries, or countries that are not very religious. It doesn't take much to think about really. Countries with less religion, are on average, happier countries, with less persecuted and oppressed people.Yes - there are exceptions, like North Korea...of course someone doesn't need religion to be bad.But doing bad things is more easily justifyable by religion. Honestly, think about what you're saying here. One would have to be stupid to believe that the most heavily religious countries are the least oppressive, and most successful and happy countries.

Religion is just an excuse to be selfish and vile to others, you can justify it because you have spirit friends and have read a tiny part of some ancient scrolls.
