Religion is the bane of the World. Always will be and always has been. It really is time people woke up! It's a scientific FACT that there are no bloody Gods. Just STUPID humans!

To me, it is Christians who put me off the religion in the first place. The hypocrisy is rife where many of who judge others, even though the Bible says only God can. "Love thy neighbour", well these days, i've noticed this comes with a list of exceptions typically including those who have differences in sexuality and gender conflictions, or they are from any other creed or religion. Christians often state they want the right to religious freedoms, which often goes on the lines of telling people how to live their lives.

I believe in a God, not sure who, what, where or why as yet. But I do not buy into religious rhetoric.

2,000 years ago, mankind wallowed in the most abysmal ignorance about the nature of the universe, and everyone was religious. Many still are, most of them living, and dying prematurely, in parts of the world that still wallow in the same abysmal ignorance. The most zealous among them have taken to killing those who don't share their faith. Elsewhere, as science discovers more and more about the laws that govern the natural world, the number of people who still call themselves religious is in free fall. I wonder why.

2000 years ago mankind had reached a level of scientific and mathematical sophistication that it took 1200 years after the fall of the Roman Empire to regain, principally from texts preserved and studied in the libraries of Europe's monasteries. You'd obviously struggle to get an F in a basic history exam, yet you have the hubris to lecture others? Arrogance and ignorance make such comfortable bed-fellows, as is so aptly demonstrated by your comments.

The world is growing up & no longer needs silly superstitions. People do not need the threat of eternal damnation to make them behave.

I'm an agnostic, dyslexic insomniac. Sometimes I stay up all night wondering if there's a dog.

All the Atheists I know are not vocal about their lack of believe whereas the Christians love to mention God regularly to us in passing conversations.

All the atheists I know are incredibly vocal. Its those who have any Christian faith at all who are afraid to speak. Of course, other religions are "respected"

I don't respect any religion. Religion doesn't deserve our respect it should be ridiculed for the ancient hocus pocus that it is and only taught as history.

You don't have to be a Christian to have Christian values , most of its based on common sense .

On the telly last night some said that their dad was a Methodist and their mum was a spiritualist. Does that make them a methaylated spirit?

We all know which sect will now take the leading position by sheer numbers!Religion has no part in values anymore especially one with embedded links outside of Europe.

Religion has no place in an enlightened world. This report just shows that people are realising this. There will always be the religious zealots, but the advancement of scientific knowledge will continue to marginalise them.

Absolutely, I mean we could certainly do without the great social advances brought about by William Wilberforce, Emily Pankhurst, the Cadbury brothers, Joseph Rowntree nd many more. After all what ever did their faith do for us...........The enlightened world came about because of people like them and because of their faith not in spite of it.

It's no coincidence that the church is the richest organisation in the world.

Sounds a healthy proportion to be..no religion doesn't equate with no morality.. But it does mean less fanatics.

so youre saying science proves the earth was made in 7 days, man doesnt come from evolution, a flood can cover the whole world the list goes on, and i dont want to think of how genetically deficient we would be if we all sprouted from a single pair of people.
