a rather misleading headline- a minority of people profess no faith, of the majority that do the vast majority are Christians- but any how it's great news and long may the secular society advanceJay Sterling
The Church does not do enough to preserve its own faith. The Church did well during certain times in history and they should copy what was done then.seabothsides
You'd be amazed how many people are feigning to be Christians around where we live - primarily as there are two oversubscribed CE faith schools in the area. Six 'messy church' sessions and you're children are 'in' or better still offer to help out at one of these sessions. You'll probably find this is similar in London adding to the popularity of the Anglican faith. C of E needs to address the unpopularity of churches and the so called 'pew jumping' to get into schools.fedupwaitingeighthrs
Before politics was used, we had religion. The leaders of the assorted parties used names to make their party known to the masses. Each devised different means to control their groups. Some promised lots of fun with the ladies when you die. Others promised an eternal life in a green and pleasant land and so the serfs all believed. And still do to this day. We have the Tories and Labour in Britain. And recently the Tories managed to convince the Labour lot that their belief in a enlarged group of countries is the way for their religion to go. Yet it appears the flock are becoming Atheist, as they all wish to keep religion as they have known it for their lifetime. There are recent additions to the country who have a different political belief and they all want something for nothing. But ! if we escape from the new beliefs introduced by the Tory religion will the new flock remain in this country, with no free loading in the future.Ed80
The Church, (Protestant and Catholic) has to continue to appease their biggest market, the developing world so has radically diverged from our moral framework. In the west we pretty much leave people alone, the doctrine of 'live and let live', in other parts of the world they oppress people for being themselves. We don't want to associate ourselves with organisations who try and push those values onto usRacey1979
You only have to look at the current state of the World to realise that if there is any kind of God, whatever it is has no influence whatsoever as to what happens in everyday life and that praying is a waste of time and energy. I mean, what kind of God would allow an idiot like Cameron to be in charge?DavidOfWiltsReply toRacey1979
....I mean, what kind of God would allow an idiot like Cameron....The sort that allows ISIL to rule in a country supposedly believing in a god. I mean if God inflicts Cameron on non believers but ISIL on his followers he, she or it is seriously lacking organisational skills. We get a slap in the face but they clearly get hell on earth.MyTurn
The thing that really annoys me when people talk about the after life is that they will never find out that's it's not true because they will be dead!
