United States to adopt bison as national mammal

This is one of the less idiotic bills introduced in DC this year. Bison are impressive animals and a trip to the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone to see them is well worth it. Early summer is great for bringing the kids because you will see bison, deer, probably wolves, fox, elk, bear and the calves/fawns/cubs/kits are pretty photogenic. I have never seen wolf pups, I don't think they travel with the pack until they are nearly adult.

I think this is a great idea.

This is the kind of thing this Congress is willing to take on... anything that would

actually benefit the average American, not so much. They are pathetic.

How very sad that the very existence of these magnificent creatures wholly depends on the whims and fancy of man.

A National Bison Day? What does it take to get a National Voters Day - being pushed to near extinction???

Is this what you call coming full circle. The government that nearly made these majestic animals extinct by paying a bounty on their heads to starve the American Indians. Now making them a national animal. Now if they could agree to do something that might repair or at least boost up ore economy.

Oh that is wonderful, they are so symbolic of our nation.

It makes sense. Congress has the American people buffaloed about what they do or don't do actually.

Buffalo are farmed because there is no way Nature is able to make enough food for this many humans on Earth, we must farm and ranch our own and stop gobbling up the Earth with our waste and greed … maybe the next generation

Aren't we the ones that nearly drove that specie to almost an extinction. Now we are celebrating ourselves for saving that specie? Hmmmm.

Leave it to the white men to first, kill all the buffalo in order to wipe out Native Americans and secondly, to decide buffalo will be our national mammal! Irony? Total oblivion? Now how about making Native Americans our national human inhabitants?

It's so important to do this now because every other problem in the country has been solved.

Here is yet another pivotal decision we are facing in this country. This is right up there in importance with putting a black woman on a $20 bill and allowing men to use women's restrooms.
