Who are these people to decide this...... WE MUST STOP THIS ASAP!!!

It's has already been done. There's noone there. Noone that could cross those distances. No chance.

That is a most stupid thing to so. If an advanced life form finds out we are here, we could invade and take over.

No way. Don't tell a possibly far more intelligent and technologically advanced species that we are here! We have no idea what they'd be like and how they would view us. We could be fodder for them and they might annihilate us! Seriously.

We should send the Kartrashians to meet the landing party. They are universally repulsive.

If you wanted to alter your backyard, would you ask the ants what they thought or just move them as you saw fit? In the grand scheme of the universe, we are less than ants.

We need to send a message across the E.U. borders to stop the "aliens" coming here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell them there is no money and no houses, they will not evn try to come !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just as well that the distances involved (25 trillion miles to the nearest star after the Sun for example) would hopefully ensure this never happens.

Sheer hoax alien threat propaganda, they keep programming the masses with the idea the aliens are there. See the video "Bill Cooper Alien Agenda". We've been sending messages since the first radio broadcasts, if they require special types of communications, they're not that smart or they don't want to look.. Any scientist would already know this, in fact in the early days of SETI no propaganda about SETI was complete without them reminding us how far our transmissions have spread. So why do they think the aliens need special communications now? They don't, they just want to keep conditioning us to believe "first contact" is around the corner, because it is in their script, so when the curtain opens on the full blown alien hoax, you'll want to believe like children want to believe in Santa. This is the establishment pretending to be your parents, and telling their excited children that if they send a special note to a special address, Santa will read it and come.

Unlikely at the distances involved that they would ever do harm. However, there is the posiblity of an advanced civilization sharing their technology and knowledge; and us becoming aware of other civilizations.

Surely, surely this should be regulated and controlled. We can't have some white coat nerd exposing possible our race to possible annihilation

Um we've been sending out signals for decades with TV and radio

Remember what astrophysicist Stephen Hawking said about being wary of seeking contact with alien civilizations. He said that intelligent aliens may rapacious marauders, roaming the cosmos in search of resources to plunder and planets to conquer and colonize.

Jelly-Bean-JonReply toRachael
He pointed out that every time an 'advanced' civilisation has encountered a 'less advanced' one here on earth is has always been worse for the 'less advanced' - ALWAYS - every single time - it NEVER goes well.

This is such a bad idea. Aliens may be even worse than humans.

I hope they never get a response. We can't agree to live in peace in this world never mind live in peace between planets.. and we cannot guarantee they won't see us in our planet as a source of food!!

The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe,is that none of it has tried to contact us

Bit silly sending out messages where to find us, what if it's the romulans or the Borg?

KelnReply toWoody100
OK, let's be realistic here. First, we've been sending radio waves into space for a century now. No, they aren't particularly strong at any great distance, but they are there and have traveled 100+ light years by now (the first ones). Second, any alien civilization that is technologically advanced enough to cross the vast distances of space between star systems is advanced enough to find us with or without our sending signals. Any such civilization would have mapped out life-bearing planets in their vicinity by now. Most likely, if there is some space-faring civilization near us, they've already visited and observed and wouldn't make contact until they feel it is warranted. The idea that they would attack us is silly considering they would have overcome resource and energy challenges just to be able to travel across the stars and would have no need to invade planets.

GalaxarReply toWoody100
Some scientists have proved that even with our most powerful transmitters, any signal we send will be lost in the noise by about 4 light years. There's nothing within that distance. Total waste of time & cash.
[ 0 ] [ 0 ]
WarriorOfTheNetReply toWoody100
Highly unlikely even the most advanced civilisations would be able to travel those distances. It's not realistic. We are talking speed of light tens, hundred, thousands of lightyears away. No chance.
