What if we're the equivalent of those bugs out of Starship Troopers to other alien species? We're pretty hardy compared to most animals on our planet.

What if they are hostile

Dumbest idea ever. You don't invited unknown "people" to your house in the hope they behave and be nice.

None of these people have seen the Twilight Zone episode called 'To Serve Man' have they? Independence Day? Star Trek movies? Maybe they expect cute little E.T. This is another example of book smarts and no common sense. Maybe the friendly ones already know and have determined we are too primitive still (no world peace here), and the hostile ones haven't found us yet.

Just great!We can't get along with each other in different countries so we try to add aliens to the mix, wonderful.Anyway they are already here and in power. Our world leaders have got to be aliens. No other explanation for how rediculously stupid they are!

Any intelligent life in outer edges of our universe wouldn't want anything to do with a planet obsessed with destroying itself or its other inhabitants.

If there is life out there and they receive the scientist message I hope their response is " Bog off we've seen what's happening on Earth "

We will regret any contact from extraterrestrials who no doubt have visited us on many occasions to date.

If there are aliens looking on , they'll probably have come to the conclusion that we are a pathetic species that isn't worth bothering with ... !

Why do these idiots insist on doing this? We have enough problems on Earth with countries hating each other and wars and t.errorism and now they want to add aliens to the mix? We don't know what's out there and if they'll like us. Heck, we don't even like each other. All we need are aliens on a planet running out of resources looking for one to take over or aliens who will look at us humans as some kind of delicious food source-we don't know what we'll be getting! If they do show up here looking for someone to eat, I hope they eat those idiots who sent out the signal first. Maybe they won't like the taste and go home.

I assume we are all hoping anyone who replies is friendly? We could be attracting people who are more advanced and more aggressive than we are. We could be their food for the next few years.

Err they obviously haven't seen a little film called Independence Day.....have we learned nothing from this film???

To begin with - in Starman, the aliens sent someone over who NASA tried to capture to dissect! So if that doesn't move you - how about the X Files episode/movie where the aliens came and tried to take over ... LEAVE THEM ALONE!!
