The advice to keep your seat belt fastened when seated should always be heeded.Jules
When will people learn to keep their seatbelt fastened unless they need to visit the toilet?!!Samseta
I'm a veteran flight attendant and I always keep my seat belt fastened when seated ....and no one has to tell me to do that. I have been in the very rough stuff over the years and I know exactly what an airplane is capable of doing in turbulence. On all my international flights, many passengers automatically take their seatbelt off and sprawl out to relax. They often don't buckle up until decent and flight attendants can't force them to fasten their seat belts. They let their babies crawl around on the floor, or make a "bed" for them on the floor, thinking that they will have the time to pick the baby up if it gets rough. They don't! It can be like flipping a switch. BAM....you're in heavy gyrations. In this case, it was so turbulent that they would never be able to restraint a baby by simply holding them. It's just like when people grab suitcases out of the bin when the airplane is on fire.People...many people, can be so stupid!Major Hindsight
Turbulence, is nothing new, it has always happened, it's a fact. It's not usually dangerous, apart from objects moving around in the cabin. It's given more exposure now due to the 24 hrs media etc. Also, modern planes are better equipped and warned better about air pockets, windshears etc. It still happens though, which is why any sensible passenger would be wise to keep their belt on as much as possible.dinkie1993
I have to ask a rather obvious question - Why were they not wearing seatbelts? Whenever I have flown if there has been any turbulence, however light, we were told to put our seat belts on.
