It's best to steam it on your stove than in a microwave. Microwave to other things to food. If you put 1/2 inch of water in a pot, bring to a boil, add a pile of broccoli and cover. 5 minutes and it's done. I add a bunch of herbs to mine too. Salt free seasoning and some garlic.
Whatever you do ,don't roast it,you get greasy broccoli and even with seasoning, tastes like #$%$,steamed is the best or cooked with rice, like in a Rizzoto.
The best tasting brocolli is roasted not steamed. Oven ,roll it in olive oil, 375, for about 25 min. Sprinkle some parmesan . The best! You wont steam it again .
I think a lot of people cook broccoli way too long. You are suppose to cook it just long enough till it is tender or firm. If you cook it till it turns to brown mush you have destoryed it.
microwave?.....and you story is in making sure you don,t loose vital nutrients by boiling it....what are all you people pure dip #$%$!!!!!! .................a microwave completly destroys any nutritional value whatsoever.......better go back to the KOOL AID trouff......
Nutrients don't need to go anywhere to be destroyed. This guy is nutty.Vitamin c is destroyed with heat, does it need to go anyware for this ...no it doesnt it.
